Auroras & Blossoms was created as an inclusive and family-friendly platform that celebrates inspiration and upliftment through the concept of PoArtMo—Positive Actions Rally Thoughts & Momentum.

For almost five years, we had an open-door policy that allowed us to work with a large number of very talented writers and artists from all walks of life. Many of them had never been published anywhere else before, including young writers ages 13-16. We are very proud of that!

Unfortunately, that open-door policy made us targets of major abuse, including AI, poor submissions, and lack of support / respect. No matter how flexible and accommodating we have tried to be, our guidelines and mission have been repeatedly attacked.

At Auroras & Blossoms, the two people who work in the background do not get paid for what they do. Our revenue, which only stems from the sales of our anthologies, is used to cover the costs attached to running our website and a couple of tools that make our publishing work easier. Without our donation system, we would not be able to offer one of the rarest perks in the anthology realm: Royalties to contributors.

As authors ourselves, our utmost goal is to ensure that the creatives who work with us feel welcomed, valued and respected. We want Auroras & Blossoms to continue being a safe space for those who choose to work with us because they understand our mission. Unfortunately, we run the risk of jeopardizing that promise if we continue allowing bad actors to invade our platform.

We have no choice left.

So, effective April 1, 2024:

  • We will no longer accept submissions to our magazine or Haiku anthology.
  • We will only run the PoArtMo Anthology, which features the works of Cendrine Marrouat, David Ellis, Azelle Elric, and 3 or 4 additional participants every year.
  • Only people who have been vetted manually will have access to our guidelines and be able to submit their work.
  • Provided that there is enough space in the current volume, contributors to previous volumes will be able to freely participate.

Please note the following:

  • All the magazine issues and other anthologies that we have released will remain available for purchase.
  • We may get back to other types of anthologies if there is enough demand for them. However, our vetting process would remain in place.
  • We have no intention of releasing a print version of our PoArtMo Anthology. Multimedia books are too costly to print and sell, which would make them unaffordable to readers.

Thank you for reading, and we cannot wait to continue working with inspirational artists for many years to come!
