PoArtMo stands for “Positive Actions Rally Thoughts & Momentum,” a concept based on the following tenets: 1. Family-friendliness & clean language – 2. Positivity and upliftment – 3. Inclusivity and respect for all.

Inspired by NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), PoArtMo seeks to promote positive and inspirational art and creativity.

At Auroras & Blossoms, we are always looking for short work (stories, poems and essays) and visual art (photography, sculptures, paintings, etc.) that fit the concept of PoArtMo. We accept submissions on a rolling basis and accepted pieces will be published on our blog.

Who can participate: Anyone at least 13 years of age, including emerging and never-published writers and artists.

Language: English only.

Fee: $0. But donations help us cover the costs of running our website.

Maximum length per story / poem / essay: 1,000 words.

Maximum number of pieces:

  • 1 for written work.
  • 3 for photos.

What we don’t want: Sexually explicit content, swear words, gory and graphic descriptions. Only family-friendly work will be considered.

What we would love to read: More Hemingku, Pareiku, and Kindku! Our poetry forms are fun.

Selected submissions will be published on our blog.

Kindly note the following:

  • NO double space between words, after periods, and/or between lines, please!
  • Previously published work is acceptable, but we would much prefer receiving original content. No simultaneous submissions, please!
  • Wait to hear from us before sending us more work.
  • Any unprofessional behaviors, threats and false accusations levelled against us will be addressed in the following manner: automatic rejection of your submission and indefinite ban from submitting to us.
  • While we understand that mistakes happen, it is your responsibility to read and follow our guidelines. We will not contact writers who have incorrectly submitted to us to give them a second chance.

Ready to submit?

We will only contact you if your work is selected. Should you not have heard from us within two months after sending your work, you can consider your submission rejected.

Thank you for your consideration! We can’t wait to read you.

The PoArtMo Anthology

Every year, the PoArtMo Anthology offers a selection of inspirational and uplifting works (poetry, stories, photography, drawings, paintings…) from Cendrine Marrouat, David Ellis, Azelle Elric, Marjolein Rotsteeg, and special guests ages 17 and over.

For two years (2021-2022), we also ran The PoArtMo Anthology: Youth Edition, which featured stories and poetry from young creatives between the ages of 13 and 16.

NB: We are currently accepting submissions for Volume 6 of our anthology, which will be released in 2025.

Are you a storyteller or artist over the age of 17? If so, we would love to hear from you! Please email us for consideration at info@abpositiveart.com by March 31, 2025. In your message, include the following information:

  1. Short bio (third person) + link to your website
  2. Work samples: 250 words maximum (writers) and/or 2 images maximum (visual artist). PDF documents or JPG files only!
  3. Explain why you think your work would fit our PoArtMo Anthology

Please note that the samples you send us will help us determine if you are the right fit. They will NOT be used in any of our anthologies.

Submission guidelines are only accessible to selected participants.
